A former senator who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Shehu Sani, has taken a swipe at the remaining two governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), suggesting they may soon need to constantly reassure each other of their loyalty.

Sani made the remark on Wednesday in a post on X while reacting to the party’s deepening internal crisis.

The former lawmaker said the two governors, Seyi Makinde and Bala Mohammed, might have to frequently check in with each other to confirm that they are still together in the party.

“Now that the PDP has only two governors remaining, the two will have to be calling each other every one hour to be sure…with words like…I hope we are still together or I hope you still de?” he wrote.

His comments come amid escalating tensions within the PDP following a recent ruling by the Court of Appeal regarding the party’s disputed national convention.

The appellate court upheld earlier judgments restraining the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognising the outcome of the PDP’s national convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State, in November 2025.

According to the court, the convention failed to comply with statutory requirements and provisions of the party’s constitution, a decision that has further intensified the leadership crisis within the opposition party.

The development has deepened uncertainty about the party’s organisational structure and its readiness ahead of future electoral contests.
