Gospel singer, Kehinde Adegbodu, of the Yoruba gospel music duo, Adegbodu Twins, has opened up a week after his brother’s passing and narrated how his twin died.
Kehinde had announced the death of his twin on Sunday, March 1 2026, leaving many speculating as to the cause of his death.
Recounting the sad occurrence to a group of visitors who had come to sympathise at their residence in Ibadan, Kehinde revealed that Taiwo was never sick. He spoke of their final hours together, stating that Taiwo died from a heart attack minutes after complaining of chest pain. He said Taiwo was cheerful and energetic just hours before he broke down.
He mentioned in a viral video that they prayed at 9 pm on Saturday, as they usually did every day at that time before saying goodnight. At around 10 pm, he went to Taiwo’s room to remind him about the next day’s church service.
“At about 10 pm, I went to Taiwo’s room to tell him that the church service was at 10 am the next day. He was playing games on his phone, and he replied that he would sleep early.”
Kehinde disclosed that right before 11 pm, he heard a knock at his door. It was Taiwo, complaining of a sharp pain in his chest.
The singer said he urged them to go to the hospital, which was close to their home, about five minutes away. Thinking it was a normal visit, the brothers went to the hospital together, never knowing that Taiwo would not return.
The Adegbodu Twins came to prominence in the Yoruba gospel music genre following their 1999 debut album, Faratimi (Lean on Me). Other songs the twins have sung over the years include Emi Mimo, Ma Beru, Adura Mi Gba, Shower Your Blessing, and so on.
They became popular for their harmonious style and steadfast dedication to broadcasting the Christian message through music.
