The Niger State government has demanded transparency, accountability and effective management of mineral resources in the state.
The commissioner for mineral resources, Hon. Muh’d Qasim Danjuma, made the call during a stakeholders’ meeting to resolve issues surrounding mining activities in Kurebe Arewa of Shiroro local government area of the state.
The commissioner stressed the importance of maintaining peace and cooperation among all stakeholders involved in mining operations in the state.
He said strict compliance with regulatory frameworks and the adoption of responsible mining practices remained essential to the sustainable development of the solid minerals sector in Niger State.
The commissioner reiterated the commitment of the state government to transparency, accountability, and effective management of mineral resources.
He further stressed that strong collaboration among government institutions, traditional leaders, mining operators and host communities was critical to preventing conflicts and promoting long-term socio-economic development in mining areas.
