Yenagoa’s International 10KM Race Aims To Snare Global Runners

Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State, is abuzz with anticipation as the inaugural Yenagoa City International 10KM Race 2026 is set to electrify the city on April 4, 2026. This major athletic event aims to draw elite runners globally and locally, promoting healthy living, sports tourism, and community engagement.

The race route has been officially unveiled: participants will kick off from Opolo Roundabout along the Isaac Boro Expressway at 9:30 a.m., concluding their 10-kilometer journey at Peace Park Square on the Mbiama–Yenagoa Road. A strict cut-off time of 12:30 p.m. will be enforced.

Nilayo Sports Management Ltd., the organizers, have announced an attractive prize structure to reward top performers. Elite male and female winners will compete for a $5,000 first-place prize, with $3,000 for second, $2,000 for third, $1,000 for fourth, and $500 for fifth. Local talent will also be celebrated in the indigenous category, offering ₦1,000,000 for the winner, ₦500,000 for second, ₦250,000 for third, ₦150,000 for fourth, and ₦100,000 for fifth.

Supported by key stakeholders, including the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, the race is a strategic move to establish Yenagoa as a premier destination for sporting events and provide a significant platform for athletes.
