Musician Labrinth Distances Himself From HBO Show ‘Euphoria’

British Musician Labrinth has distanced himself from the popular HBO high school series ‘Euphoria’.

The artist did so via an Instagram post on Friday, March 13, that criticised the show and Columbia Records, which released the show’s soundtrack, stating, “I’m out. Thank you and good night.”

It will be recalled that Labrinth’s music, composed for the first two seasons of the show, was an integral part of its success, including setting its general atmosphere and mood. His composition for the show won him an Emmy Award.

Last year, HBO announced that it had recruited popular film score composer Hans Zimmer to work on the third-season soundtrack with Labrinth.

Labrinth himself had welcomed Zimmer’s involvement in the show, describing it as “another chapter in the Euphoria universe! So great to join Hans, one of my heroes in film score, and bring some new magic to this new season.”

To which Zimmer responded, “Labrinth’s music has shaped the show’s identity, and I’m looking forward to contributing to the ongoing story and helping shape this new season through music.”

At present, it is unclear whether Labrinth’s music for the third season will still feature, or what caused the rift between Labrinth and the show.

The first season of ‘Euphoria’ premiered in 2019 and followed the lives of a group of teenagers, with storylines exploring themes such as drugs, sex, and identity. It launched the careers of several young stars who went on to become major Hollywood names, like Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, and Hunter Schafer.

The third season of ‘Euphoria’ is set to premiere on April 12, 2026.
