Ward chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State have passed a unanimous vote of no confidence on Sunday Karimi, the senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, accusing him of actions capable of destabilising the party in the state.

In a press statement issued on Friday, the fifteen-member forum of APC ward chairmen alleged that the senator had been undermining the party’s leadership and encouraging activities they described as anti-party across the state chapter.

The document sighted by our correspondent shows that the resolution was endorsed by several ward chairmen and party officials in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State, including the APC LGA Chairman, Chief Iruvahi Mosere; the APC LGA Secretary, Chris James; and the APC Women Leader, Olugbayemi Fanny.

Other signatories are Dare Moses of Astaa Ward, Salami Babatunde of Ayewa Ward, Ayinoni Sunday of Ayetoro/Kajola Ward, Hassan Ibrahim of Akutupa Kiri Ward, Abubakar Adeleke of Ayetoro Kiri Ward, Joseph Olaleye of Bolorunduro/Odo-Akete Ward, Olomide Felepe of Egbeda Ward, Yekini Olawumi of Iluke Ward, Simon David of Odo-Ape Ward, Joel Aasi of Odolu Ward, Amuda Gani of Olle/Oke-Offin Ward, James Dare of Okebukun Ward, Adayi Micheal of Okedayo Ward, Francis Segun of Okekoko Ward, and Zubairu Abdullahi of Otu Ward.

According to the statement, Senator Karimi allegedly sponsored and financed shadowy groups reportedly led by one Ozovehe, which the chairmen claimed have been involved in spreading misinformation and launching attacks against party leadership.

“These actions have the capacity to erode public confidence in the APC and create disaffection within the party,” the statement read.

The ward chairmen further accused the lawmaker of orchestrating sustained media attacks against the state structure of the party and promoting narratives aimed at creating division between the federal government and the Kogi State administration.

They also criticised what they described as the senator’s failure to establish a functional constituency office more than two years after assuming office, saying the situation has limited access for constituents seeking representation.

The forum additionally alleged that the senator maintains covert ties with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), his former political party, which they claim could serve as a fallback platform ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to the ward chairmen, proxy groups linked to the senator have carried out campaigns against Ahmed Usman Ododo, the governor of Kogi State, and other party leaders, while the lawmaker has distanced himself from grassroots party structures that contributed to his victory in the 2023 election.

Following deliberations, the forum announced several resolutions.

“Pass a vote of no confidence on Senator Karimi. Withdraw recognition and support for him as a candidate in the 2027 general elections. Urge the APC national leadership to take disciplinary action to safeguard party unity and credibility.”

The ward chairmen concluded by reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the APC at the grassroots level and upholding what they described as the party’s core values of discipline, loyalty, and progressive governance.
