The executive secretary and chief executive officer of the Nigerian Shippers Council, Pius Akutah, has appealed to leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party in Benue State to support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Akutah made the appeal when he visited the residence of former governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, during a meeting of the expanded caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state.
Speaking at the meeting, Akutah said his visit was to identify with leaders and members of the party whom he said had shown support for the administration of President Tinubu and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume.
“My presence here is to identify with leaders and members of the Peoples Democratic Party who have already shown support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume,” he said.
Akutah commended Ortom for what he described as his leadership during his tenure as governor of Benue State, saying the former governor played a key role in defending the interests of the state.
He noted that Ortom also promoted the idea of strategic partnership as a means of fostering collaboration to accelerate development and address insecurity in the state.
Akutah further pointed to projects sited in Benue State by the administration of President Tinubu, saying the initiatives should encourage residents of the state to support the president’s re-election bid.
“I came here personally to appeal to respected leaders and members of the Peoples Democratic Party to adopt President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as their candidate in the 2027 presidential election,” he said.
Speaking on his governorship ambition, Akutah said the call for the Kwande area to produce the next governor of Benue State was gaining momentum.
“As a son of Kwande, I have made myself available to serve the people if given the opportunity,” he said.
He added that he possesses the experience and credentials needed to promote development in the state, protect lives and property and ensure prosperity for the people.
