The permanent secretary in the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT) Mr. Adesola Olusade, who made this know while speaking at a fundraising event for victims of flood disaster in the country organised by a nongovernmental organisation, the Angelina Ogbole Memorial Foundation in Abuja, attributed the growing index of displacement in the country to banditry, insurgency, and flooding.

Olusade who was represented by the director general of the FCT Emergency Management Agency, (FEMA) Alhaji Abbas Idriss, Olusade said that displacement and humanitarian assistance were global challenges as a result of climate change and human-induced factors.

He stated that the FCT is doing a lot in rendering humanitarian assistance, particularly arising from the insurgency in the North East.

“We have done a lot to assist them. Though there is no camp in the FCT in line with the international based practice that no camp should be set up far away from the scene of the disaster,” he said.

The permanent secretary who assured the FCTA’s commitment to tackling humanitarian crises in the Territory called on everyone to support the activities of the NGO, which is doing a lot to address humanitarian crises in the country.
