Igbajo Community Backs Monarch Over Adeleke’s Step Aside Order

The Owa-in-Council of Igbajoland in Boripe local government area of Osun has appealed to Governor Ademola Adeleke to uphold the installation of Owa of Igbajoland  Oba Adegboyega Famodun, Famodun lll.

Just as factions within the Iree community in Boripe local government area of Osun disagreed over the Executive Order nullifying the installation of their monarch, Oba Ademola Rapheal Oluponle.

Adeleke had on Monday signed Executive Order among which is the nullifying of all traditional rulers installed from July 17 to date.

He specifically ordered that the new monarchs of Igbajo, Iree and Ikirun communities vacate their palaces pending the determination of their status by government after the submission of the report of a panel that would review their installation.

A statement signed by Igbajo kingmakers and High Chiefs namely Obala Iloro, Odofin Iloro, Lemikan, Odofin, and Saloro of Igbajo urged the governor to ensure that nothing disrupt the peace and tranquility existing in Igbajo after the installation of the monarch.

Also, the ruling houses in Iree, have appealed to the governor to embrace the peace reigning in their community and allow their monarch to continue to preside over their affairs.

A statement signed by the head of Oyekun Ruling House, Iree, Pa Micheal Fajinmi on behalf of five ruling houses, said the Iree community is peaceful and orderly and urged Governor Adeleke to allow the town to enjoy the breath of the fresh air with the new King.

 

But on the contrary, the Olubonku Ruling House, through a statement by Prince Ali Afolabi commended Governor Adeleke, for saving Iree from crisis that might have engulf the town following the alleged illegal and unlawful imposition of Ponle Ademola as the Aree of Iree by the immediate past administration of Gboyega Oyetola.
