Nasarawa United delivered a significant blow to Rivers United’s Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title aspirations Monday’s evening, securing a dominant 4-1 victory at home.

N. Oluka-Efor opened the scoring in the 3rd minute, followed by A. Abdullahi in the 7th, and I. Chimezie in the 16th, leaving Finidi George’s Rivers United stunned. While T. Abdulrafiu pulled one back for Rivers United in the 25th minute, J. Istifanus sealed Nasarawa United’s emphatic win with a goal in the 58th minute.
This crucial victory propelled Nasarawa United to third position on the league table with 50 points. Rivers United, meanwhile, remains in second place, now two points adrift of league leaders Rangers International of Enugu, making the final stretch of the NPFL season a thrilling contest for the coveted title.
