To reduce the number of out-of-school children,  Zurmi local government area chairman who is also the chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, (ALGON), Alhaji Samaila Kwangwami, has initiated and sustained  “Education Under No Roof.” programme.

Kwangwami, who spoke with LEADERSHIP said, ” I have taken steps to sustain learning in communities severely affected by insecurity. One such community is Sabon Gida (Tsamiyar Bagware) Village, where years of banditry have disrupted education and forced many children out of school. To ensure that children in Sabon Gida and several other communities continue learning despite the destruction of school infrastructure, I initiated the ‘Education Under No Roof ‘(EUNR) Programme.”

According to him, “under this intervention, school uniforms and essential teaching and learning materials are distributed to vulnerable children. This effort aims to encourage school enrollment, improve retention, and ensure the successful completion of basic education.

“This remarkable initiative demonstrates that even in the face of insecurity, the commitment to education remains strong. It reflects the leadership in Zurmi LGA’s determination to restore hope and protect every child’s right to learn. Together, we will rebuild our schools, restore hope, and ensure that every child returns to the classroom. Education must continue no matter the circumstances,” He stressed.
