The Nigerian Police have filed criminal charges against one Grace Okosun and Zainab Abdulmumin, over the alleged murder of Zubeidat Isa, a 19-year-old student of Nasarawa State University.
When the case came up before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) sitting in Apo Resettlement, it could not proceed and was adjourned to July 7, 2026.
In the charge, marked CR/335/2025 and dated 27th May, 2025, the police accused the suspects of the murder of the student.
The charge filed by Wisdom Madaki of the Legal Prosecution Section of the Nigeria Police, stated that the act was committed on February 13, 2025.
The charge against the defendants read: “That you, Grace Okosun, 32 years of 246 Jahi behind Platinum Mall, Gwarimpa and Zainab Abdulmumin, 28 years of Mab Global Estate, Gwarinpa Extension on 13th February, 2025, within the jurisdiction of this court did conspire and commit offence to wit culpable homicide contrary section 96 and punishable under section 97 of the Penal code.
“That you, Grace Okosun, 32 years of No. 246 Jahi behind Platinum Mall, Gwarinpa, and Zainab Abdulmumin 28 years of Mab Global Estate, Gwarinpa Extension, on the 13th day of February, 2025, within the jurisdiction of this court, killed Zubeidat Isah at House 3 Annex Hotel because you suspect her of dating Grace Okosun’s boyfriend, Mr Kelvin Donaldson, and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 220 and punishable under 221 of the Penal Code.
In a petition to the inspector-general of police by a pressure group, Egbira Voice Worldwide, vowed to use all lawful means to get justice for the slain Zubeidat.
In the petition, signed by Prince Raji Anas and Kenneth Enebe, president-general and general secretary of the group, respectively, said the culprits in the alleged murder of the teenager must be brought to book.
The group said in the petition, “The employer, a suspect (Madam Grace Okosun) from Edo State, was a beneficiary of Zubeidat’s mother’s magnanimity, according to narration and alleged confession by the suspect. Zubeidat’s mother had, sometime in the past, helped the woman find a solution for her seven-year-old child who couldn’t talk ever since he was born.
But the payback time was to pay the family on the opposite side of the coin.
“On that fateful day, February 13, 2025, late Zubeidat was observing her off-day at home with her parents when her employer (Madam Grace Okosun) called Zubeidat late, telling her to come and help her with some work. Being her boss, the mother allowed her to go but never came back to date. When Zubeidat’s non-return home became a concern to the family, a call was put across to the woman (suspect), but she vehemently denied her involvement until the pot became very hot that the woman agreed to have called her (Zubeidat) and confessed her involvement in the whereabouts of her employee (Zubeidat) till date which, according to the suspect, the heinous act was carried out at a hotel in Gwarimpa own by one EVELYN OZABOR.
“Despite her confession, the DPO (Babagana Galadima) of Gwarimpa Police division in charge of the case was making a fortune from the suspect while trying to dismiss the family of the victim in favour of the suspect on the strength that nobody was fighting for the victim’s parents.
Paradoxically, the case was transferred to the SARS office at the abattoir for an unbiased, transparent investigation. From here, the suspect and all other accomplices were apprehended and are undergoing interrogation”
