Ministry of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike, has attributed the rapid infrastructural transformation of the nation’s capital to President Bola Tinubu’s unwavering support and insistence on punctual project completion.

Speaking on Wednesday in Abuja following an inspection tour of ongoing sites across the territory, Wike emphasized that the President’s close oversight stems from a deep commitment to the welfare of FCT residents and a drive for quality service delivery.

“Mr President doesn’t just offer support he ensures jobs are completed on time and to the required standard. When the head backs you, failure is not an option,” Wike said.

He added that the administration’s momentum is fuelled by a leader who prioritizes basic infrastructure. “Without his support, achieving this pace of development would have been difficult.”

According to the minister, routine inspections serve as a critical tool to track contractors’ speed and workmanship, ensuring that projects meet specifications and deadlines.

At Arterial Road S1, stretching from Ring Road II to the FCT Fire Service Station in Kaura District, Wike praised the quality and tempo of work, expressing confidence that the project would be completed and handed over within the next five months.

He also inspected the extension of Obafemi Awolowo Way (N5), which connects Gwarimpa, Life Camp, Dape District, and Karmo.

Wike noted that the road is now 100 per cent complete and slated for inauguration to mark President Tinubu’s third year in office.

At the Nigerian Law School in Bwari, the minister reviewed ten newly-constructed bungalows for teachers and staff, confirming they are fully furnished and ready for occupancy.

He also assessed two student hostel projects, one male, one female, expressing satisfaction with the female hostel, which is expected to be completed by November.

“The contractor handling the female hostel is doing a commendable job. We need to encourage that momentum,” Wike said.

However, he voiced disappointment with progress on the male hostel. “It looks like quality work, but I’m not impressed with the level done so far.

“I expected it to be at the same stage as the female hostel, given they were awarded and mobilised at the same time. Nonetheless, the contractor has assured delivery by October or November.”

Wike further disclosed that a contract has been awarded for the construction of an auditorium at the institution, with work set to begin shortly.
