Residents of Pankshin Local Government Area in Plateau State have been thrown into shock and grief after aborted twins were discovered dumped at a refuse site in an area called Special Site.
LEADERSHIP gathered that the aborted children—a male and a female, estimated to be over five months in gestation—were found in a polythene bag.
Enman Danladi, whose house is located behind the refuse site, recounted how the chilling discovery was made. “I am a commercial driver. Upon returning from work, a man doing irrigation farming behind my house knocked on my door. My wife opened it, and he asked me to come and see something. We went to the refuse dump, where he opened a polythene bag, and we saw the aborted twins,” he said.
According to the farmer, he first noticed a dog sniffing the bag while flies buzzed around it, which sparked his curiosity. “I drove the dog away several times, then approached the bag and found the children. I rushed to inform Danladi since it was behind his house,” he explained.
Danladi said he immediately called eight other neighbours. Together, they dug a small hole and buried the twins. Before the burial, the group reportedly laid curses on whoever carried out the act. He added that the men were furious, while the women cried profusely—particularly one woman who has been married for a long time but has no children.
When asked about suspects, Danladi said there were none, noting that such acts are usually carried out by outsiders to avoid detection.
He also revealed that since the discovery, the area has felt unusually cold, and the emotional impact remains, especially among the women. The matter was not reported to authorities, as it was a collective community decision to handle the burial themselves.
