Nigeria’s heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) sector is set for a major boost as stakeholders prepare to converge for the inaugural edition of HVACR Nigeria, an industry-focused exhibition aimed at advancing standards, innovation and technical capacity across the value chain.
The three-day event, scheduled for April 7–9, 2026, in Lagos, was organised by dmg Events and endorsed by the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) and ASHRAE Region-at-Large (RAL).
The organisers said the exhibition comes at a time when Nigeria’s HVACR market is projected to grow at an annual rate of 8.78 per cent between 2025 and 2029, driven by rapid urbanisation, increased commercial construction and rising demand for energy-efficient cooling systems.
Co-located with the West Africa Infrastructure Expo, the event is expected to attract over 2,000 participants, including manufacturers, engineers, contractors, developers and facility managers. More than 35 companies from over 10 countries, including the UAE, Nigeria, India and the United States, will showcase products and solutions spanning air conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation, air quality and building automation.
Managing Director of AHRI, Nabil Shahin, said the industry faces a critical transition that presents both risks and opportunities.
He stated: “The transition to next-generation refrigerants, improved energy efficiency and decarbonization present both challenges and opportunities for the HVACR industry in Nigeria. HVACR Nigeria will be an ideal gathering of the industry to present advanced technologies, exchange technical expertise and bring together stakeholders to help shape a more efficient and sustainable industry.”
Similarly, Director and Regional Chair of ASHRAE Region-at-Large, Bassel Anbari, underscored Nigeria’s strategic importance in the global HVACR landscape.
“Nigeria is one of Africa’s fastest-growing markets for HVACR, with urbanisation, commercial construction, and the shift toward energy-efficient systems driving a strong demand for technical knowledge and industry standards. The endorsement of HVACR Nigeria by ASHRAE Region-at-Large reflects that the event and its content programme directly address the needs of industry practitioners,” he said.
A key feature of the event is the “HVACR Talks,” a series of CPD-certified sessions designed to deepen technical knowledge and industry dialogue. While the sessions will address issues such as project standards, energy-efficient cooling, low global warming potential refrigerants, workforce development, and the integration of smart controls, Internet of Things (IoT) and automation in HVACR systems.
On her part, Senior Vice President of dmg Events, Josine Heijmans, said the exhibition responds directly to market realities in Nigeria.
“Nigeria is the largest economy in West Africa and the continent’s most populous country, with a substantial influence on regional trade and market direction. That scale is reflected in the demand we are seeing for HVACR solutions. Urbanisation is accelerating, commercial construction is expanding and the pressure to deliver energy-efficient systems is no longer a long-term consideration but an immediate operational requirement,” she said.
Heijmans added that the platform would connect international suppliers with local professionals around active projects and real procurement needs.
Exhibitors at the event include Daitech, JMG, AHI Carrier, Artech2000, CIG E-Home and Rubber World, representing global brands such as Daikin, Trane, Carrier, Toshiba, York and GREE, among others.
