Stakeholders, political leaders and community leaders in the Ikorodu Division of Lagos State have urged political party leaders to consider candidates from their division as the next governor of the state.
They expressed their views at a public lecture/annual general meeting of the I-Heroes with the topic “Amplify: Ikorodu Division’s Stake in Lagos Politics – Amplifying Our Strengths, Weaknesses and Potentials and Sorting the Path of Glory.”
They noted that since the current political dispensation started 27 years ago, Ikorodu has never had the opportunity of producing a governor of the state, nor a speaker of the House of Assembly, noting that the only opportunity given to the community was two weeks as a deputy governor, which is not enough to count as a fair representative.
In his speech, the guestspeaker, Barrister S. O. K. Shillings, said there were structural imbalances in representation affecting the Ikorodu Division.
