Governor Ahmed Ododo of Kogi State has reiterated his administration’s commitment to fostering a strong partnership with the media to accelerate development in the state.
The governor gave the assurance on Friday in Lokoja at the 2026 Press Week of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kogi State Council.
Represented by the commissioner for information and communication, Mr Kingsley Fanwo, Ododo commended journalists for their professionalism, patriotism and dedication to promoting good governance and projecting the state’s image positively.
He emphasised the vital role of the media in showcasing Kogi’s vast opportunities, noting that his administration values constructive criticism and solution-driven journalism.
Ododo acknowledged progress made in tackling insecurity across the state but stressed that more work remains to be done. He called on the media to sustain collaboration with government in addressing security concerns and power supply challenges.
Highlighting ongoing efforts in the power sector, the governor disclosed that his administration is putting in place a regulatory framework and engaging key industry players to improve electricity supply.
