The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership and transformative policies, highlighting the All Progressives Congress (APC) as Nigeria’s dominant political party.
Speaking at the 2026 APC National Convention in Abuja, Akpabio commended the strong turnout of delegates from all 36 states, the Federal Capital Territory, and party members from the diaspora.
He also lauded the convention chairman, former governor of Katsina State, Aminu Bello Masari, for organizing a historic and well-coordinated event.
Emphasizing the party’s achievements, Akpabio declared, “Since President Tinubu assumed office, there are now only two political parties in Nigeria: APC and others.”
He attributed APC’s strengthened position to Tinubu’s vision and reforms in critical sectors such as education, agriculture, finance, and foreign exchange policy, which have positively impacted citizens, particularly in rural communities.
He highlighted initiatives like expanded student loan programs and agricultural development schemes, noting their role in empowering Nigerians and improving access to essential services.
Akpabio also acknowledged the contributions of past leaders, including the late President Muhammadu Buhari, in laying the foundation for Nigeria’s political and economic progress.
He pointed out that APC’s growth from controlling 18 states to 32 governors underscores the party’s increasing national relevance and influence.
Concluding his address, the Senate President reaffirmed the legislature’s commitment to supporting the President, stressing that unity and cooperation between government branches are essential to tackling security challenges and advancing Nigeria’s development agenda.
Akpabio’s remarks reinforced APC’s message of strong leadership, national unity, and transformative governance as the party prepares for future political engagements.
