Ibrahim Musa Gusau, President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has expressed considerable optimism regarding the burgeoning partnership between the federation and Toptier Sports Management, aimed at revitalising the Nigerian National League (NNL).
Commenting on the recent investment, Mr Gusau lauded the collaboration as a pivotal step towards elevating Nigeria’s second-tier football league, fostering greater professionalism, transparency, and commercial appeal.
“I am delighted with our partnership with Toptier Sports Management. From their initial approach, I offered them my full support, and I foresee significant prospects within this relationship. We are committed to dedicating substantial effort to ensure its continued advancement and will provide Toptier with all necessary assistance,” he stated.
The NFF President underscored that a primary objective of the alliance is to amplify the league’s visibility through live match broadcasts – an aspect that has historically hindered the NNL’s growth and reach.
“We are doing everything in our power to ensure matches are televised live. This investment marks merely the genesis of many positive developments, and we anticipate even greater enhancements next season. They are collaborating closely to transform the entire structure, which will facilitate increased transparency and visibility,” Mr Gusau added.
A notable feature of this initiative is the pledge to broadcast the eagerly awaited Super 4 tournament live from Ikenne, heralding a new chapter for the league in terms of media exposure and supporter engagement.
“The Super 4 in Ikenne will be aired live, and we are resolute in building upon this achievement,” he affirmed.
Toptier Sports Management’s involvement is widely perceived as a strategic manoeuvre to draw private sector investment into Nigerian football, refine league organisation, and cultivate a more competitive landscape for clubs and players alike.
With a concerted focus on restructuring, elevated officiating standards, and expanded media coverage, stakeholders believe this partnership will usher in a prosperous future for the NNL and fortify Nigeria’s broader football ecosystem.
