The Nigerian quartet, comprising Chidera Ezeakor, Maria Thompson, James Taiwo Emmanuel, and Obi Jennifer Chukwuka, powered to victory at the Lefika International Relays. They clocked a remarkable time of 41.44 seconds, winning the event in emphatic style.
Competing in the recently introduced mixed 4x100m relay, Team Nigeria not only secured the gold medal but also etched their names into the history books as the inaugural African Record holders for the event.
This outstanding display significantly enhances Nigeria’s standing in the World Relays qualification rankings, propelling the team to 12th position and firmly placing them in contention for a spot at the prestigious global competition.
Kenya also delivered a strong showing, finishing in second place and setting a National Record with a time of 41.70 seconds.
