Yobe State University has matriculated over 2,200 newly admitted students for the 2025/2026 academic session during its 18th matriculation and orientation held in Damaturu, the state capital
The ceremony took place at Geidam Hall B of the university yesterday.
Its vice-chancellor, Mohammed Bashir Tahir, reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to maintaining a conducive learning environment for students.
He urged the new students to remain focused on their studies, shun bad company, and uphold good character, noting that the university places equal emphasis on character and learning in its graduation process.
Also, the dean of Students Affairs, Musa Isa, charged the students to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the institution to achieve academic excellence.
The speakers congratulated the students on their admission and encouraged them to be disciplined and dedicated to their studies.
A breakdown of the matriculated students shows that 465 were admitted into the College of Medical Sciences, 53 into the Faculty of Agriculture, 74 into the Faculty of Arts, 121 into the Faculty of Education, 67 into the Faculty of Law, 935 into the Faculty of Science, and 525 into the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences.
The event was attended by members of the University Governing Council, the Registrar, Isa Audu Dallari, other top university officials, a representative of the Emir of Damaturu, and parents and well-wishers.
