President Bola Tinubu, on Thursday, made an emotional appeal for comfort and resilience as he addressed a grieving mother who lost her son in the recent attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North LGA of Plateau State, saying no financial compensation could ever replace her loss.

“Favour, I know the pain. I saw how you held your own son Ayuba in the (viral) video, and the pain and agony in your heart, but only God can give you joy and comfort,” the President said while consoling the grieving mother alongside other bereaved families during his condolence visit to Jos, Plateau State capital on Thursday.

He added that the Federal Government would do its best to support victims, but stressed that material assistance could never undo the tragedy.

“No amount of money can pay all of you back. Yes, as government we will try our best to comfort you and work with you, but the best solution is for Jos to be Jos, the one that people like us grew up to know,” Tinubu added.

LEADERSHIP reports that the president arrived in Jos, Plateau State capital on Thursday following the deadly attacks that left nearly 28 people dead in Angwan Rukuba and surrounding communities on Palm Sunday.

He was received by Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, and other top government officials before proceeding to meet with the victims and families affected by the violence.

Tinubu reiterated his administration’s commitment to bringing the perpetrators to justice, earlier describing the attacks as “barbaric and cowardly.”

He also directed security agencies to intensify intelligence-led operations and strengthen rapid response mechanisms to prevent further killings.

The President further cautioned against narratives suggesting religious motivation behind the attacks, warning that such framing could worsen tensions in already fragile communities.

Tinubu had earlier condemned both incidents, describing perpetrators as “heartless cowards” who target defenceless citizens under the cover of darkness.
