NNL Drama Peaks: Jigawa Go Top As Ranchers Face Do-or-Die Final Day

The battle for promotion in Conference D of the Nigeria National League has taken a dramatic twist, with Jigawa Golden Stars surging to the summit following a decisive disciplinary ruling.

The league awarded Jigawa three points and three goals after Yobe Desert Stars were found guilty of fielding an ineligible player, Shedrack John. The verdict has reshaped the standings and set up a high-stakes finale to the campaign.

Former leaders Ranchers Bees now face a must-win encounter away to Gombe United, who are themselves fighting for survival. Anything less than victory could end Ranchers Bees’ promotion hopes, while a win for Gombe would secure their status and potentially derail the Kaduna-based side’s ambitions.

Ranchers Bees, now under the ownership of Sadiq Umar and his partner, are chasing a historic first promotion to the top flight. The stakes could hardly be higher as they head into the decisive fixture.

At the top of the table, Jigawa Golden Stars travel to face Kebbi United knowing that victory will confirm their promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League. However, Kebbi United are equally desperate, with a win required to avoid relegation and preserve their league status.

With both promotion and survival on the line, the final day promises intense drama across venues. The Conference D winners will not only secure elevation to the NPFL but also book a place in the Super 4 tournament in Ikenne next month, where the overall NNL champions for the 2025/2026 season will be decided.
