Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has issued a heartfelt apology for the “reckless” red card he received during Nigeria’s 2-2 friendly draw against Jordan on March 31st.

The incident occurred late in the game after Iwobi retaliated following a challenge from Jordan’s Amer Jamous.

Speaking on the Alexander Yaa Digg podcast, the Fulham star openly admitted his lapse in judgment, stating: “I need to address what I did and apologise to all my Nigerian teammates, staff, and everyone who cares about Nigeria. My actions were not good enough, and I got sent off.”

The former Arsenal man acknowledged the need to learn from the experience, adding: “But I will learn from this and keep moving on. We got a draw, we did not lose, so we will take the positives. I want to apologise for the mistake.”
