Inter Lagos have officially earned promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) for the first time in their history.
The modest side, known for their disciplined performances and low-profile operations, sealed their place in the top flight following a hard-fought 1–1 draw against Smart City on Monday. That crucial point was enough to keep them at the summit of the Nigeria National League (NNL) Conference A table, where they now sit with 29 points from 15 matches.
Inter Lagos become only the second club this season to punch their ticket to the NPFL, joining Doma United, who secured promotion earlier. Their rise is being celebrated as a testament to patient squad building and tactical resilience, especially given the financial and logistical challenges faced by many NNL clubs.
With their historic promotion confirmed, Inter Lagos will begin preparations for their debut NPFL campaign next season an extraordinary achievement for a team that has long operated outside the spotlight of Nigerian football’s traditional powerhouses.
Meanwhile, two more promotion slots remain up for grabs in the NNL, keeping the race for top-flight entry alive and intense as the season approaches its final stretch.
