Nollywood veteran Chiwetalu Agu has issued a blunt warning to financially unstable men, urging them to reassess their readiness for fatherhood amid Nigeria’s current economic climate.
In a viral video shared on his Instagram page, the legendary actor highlighted the skyrocketing costs of essential commodities, including diapers, fuel, and school fees. Agu cautioned that bringing a child into the world without a solid financial foundation is a recipe for personal hardship that may outweigh the initial “enjoyment.”
“Pampers prices are increasing, school fees are rising, fuel prices are increasing… yet you have nothing, and you’re still getting a woman pregnant,” the actor remarked in his signature style. “You will definitely cry more than that baby when the time to ‘chest the billing’ comes.”
The veteran, known for his witty yet poignant social commentary, urged young men to prioritise financial stability over temporary pleasure. He noted that the realities of raising a child in a volatile economy require “hard work and planning,” rather than just hope.
