The music star made the remarks while expressing pride in his cultural identity, heritage and background.
“Our culture and tradition is not diabolical; is not to be demonized. We’re proud of who we are, where we’re coming from, and everything about our heritage, tradition and culture,” he said.
His comments have drawn attention to conversations surrounding the perception of traditional African practices, particularly the tendency to associate indigenous customs and beliefs with negative spiritual connotations.
Olamide’s remarks also highlight the importance of preserving cultural identity and appreciating the traditions, values and practices that shape African communities.
