The Bayelsa State Government has said the planned visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the state will open a new phase of economic growth and attract investment.
The special adviser to Governor Douye Diri on SMEs and former lawmaker, Hon. Jonathan Obuebite, said the projects lined up for commissioning are not just state achievements but developments with national economic importance.
He noted that key projects such as the 60-megawatt gas turbine, the Angiama-Oporoma Bridge, the New Yenagoa City–Gbarantoru Road, and the Sagbama–Ekeremor Road would improve power supply, ease movement, and boost business activities.
According to him, the gas turbine project in particular will support industrial growth, while the bridge will finally connect communities that have been cut off for decades, opening up new opportunities for trade and development.
He added that the road projects spread across the state will improve access, reduce travel time, and link Bayelsa more effectively to other parts of the country.
Obuebite said the ongoing developments show a clear effort to position Bayelsa as a destination for investment and economic activities, noting that the impact is already being felt in both urban and rural areas.
He urged residents to take advantage of the opportunity presented by the President’s visit to showcase the state’s progress and unity.
“This is a historic and symbolic moment for our state. I encourage all Bayelsans to turn out en masse to receive the President and celebrate these landmark achievements that will define our future.
“Today, the governor is rewriting our history in a positive direction. Bayelsa is now among the comity of states, going beyond boosting investor confidence to setting the pace for economic growth and sustainable investment,” Obuebite added.
