We’re Supporting Tinubu In Ondo Because Of Tunji-Ojo – Students

Students and youth groups in Ondo State have declared support for the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, attributing their decision to the performance and influence of the minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

The students made this known during a mobilisation gathering held at the secretariat of the Asiwaju Mandate Group, in Akure, the state capital, where representatives from various institutions and youth organisations converged to canvass support for the president ahead of the 2027 general elections.

At the event, the chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Joint Campus Committee in Ondo State, Mayomi Adekanye, said the students’ endorsement of Tinubu was largely driven by Tunji-Ojo’s contributions to student welfare and youth development.

He noted that the minister’s interventions, including bursaries and other support initiatives, have earned him widespread acceptance among students.

‎He described Tunji-Ojo as a leader whose influence extends beyond his official responsibilities, adding that his track record, both as a former member of the House of Representatives representing Akoko North-West/Akoko North-East Federal Constituency and now as Minister of Interior, has strengthened students’ confidence in the administration.

According to him, over 1,000 student leaders drawn from different institutions, faculties and local government areas in the state participated in the mobilisation, each representing a broader student population.

‎Adekanye further noted that the minister has maintained strong engagement with young people, making it easier for students to align with the government.

‎He said, “When someone has done something good, you support such a person, and that is why we are here today. Despite the situation in the country, we came out using Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo’s canvass support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is very easy for us, because he has been performing remarkably well.

‎”When he (Tunji-Ojo) served as a member of the House of Representatives, representing Akoko North-West/Akoko North-East Federal Constituency, he did very well. Now, as the Minister of Interior of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, he is still doing well.

‎”He has also extended his goodwill to the student community. He did not limit his impact to his office; his influence extends beyond it. So, he is doing well, and that is why we are here today to support him and, by extension, declare support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

‎Also speaking, Director-General of the Asiwaju Mandate Group, Olumuyiwa Asagunla, said the mobilisation formed part of a broader strategy to engage key stakeholders across the state.

‎Asagunla added that plans were underway to extend the mobilisation to tertiary institutions across the state, expressing confidence that the students would promote the President’s second-term bid within their communities.

‎“Very soon, we will begin campus engagements, and these students will also take the message of Tinubu’s second term to their various communities, as encouraged by Dr Tunji-Ojo,” he said.
