‎Nollywood actor Tobi Makinde has spoken about his current relationship with star actor and producer Funke Akindele. He clarified that there is no quarrel between him and Aunty Funke, contrary to what is perceived on social media.
‎
‎Tobi, who has featured in many productions under Funke Akindele, spoke in an interview on BBC Pidgin, saying his relationship with Funke Akindele did not start on social media and will not end there.
‎
‎”Social media tends to work on its own script and only uses us to fill in the gap. I don’t have any quarrel with Aunty Funke Akindele. The time she was busy producing her recent movie was the same time I got married. We get along well,” says Tobi.
‎
‎The actor stated that he is now an independent producer, working on his own production, and will let fans know about it soon.
‎
‎Speaking about his foray into Nollywood, Tobi Makinde said he got into the industry through his dad, Jimi Makinde, at the age of 7 in 1998.
‎
‎He credited Mr Tunji Bamishigbin as the first person to give him a platform to showcase his acting prowess. After him is Funke Akindele.
‎
‎
‎”My acting experience started with veteran producer, Mr Tunji Bamishigbin, and it was my Dad who brought me to the industry. He is an actor too, Mr Jimi Makinde, and this was at a very young age, 7. Going for an audition can be tricky for a young actor, and when you are told they will get back to you. Really, nobody really gets back. I thank God for my Dad, Uncle Tunji Bamishigbin and Funke Akindele, who have contributed in a big way to my career. I am grateful to them all,” says Tobi.
