Sule Lamido University Set To Hold Convocation For 4,109 Graduates

Sule Lamido University, Kafin Hausa, Jigawa State, is set to hold its combined second convocation for 4,109 graduates of various disciplines.

Speaking to journalists during a pre convocation press briefing, the vice-chancellor of the university, Prof. Muhammad Ibrahim Yakasai, said the combined convocation, scheduled to take place on Saturday April 2026, will be the second convocation organized by the university since its establishment in 2012.

He explained that the university’s maiden convocation ceremony was held six years ago, and this one, being the second, will cover six academic sessions.

Prof. Yakasai further revealed that among the graduates, 154 bagged first class, 2,326 secured second class upper, 1,954 obtained second class lower, 649 earned third class, and 26 received pass degrees.

The vice-chancellor narrated some of the progress made in the school, including the introduction of new courses such as postgraduate diplomas, master’s degrees, and PhD degrees in various fields.

“We have also restructured courses in preliminary studies, while preparation is ongoing for the take-off of the College of Medicine,” he said.

“In the area of infrastructure, the university has also made significant progress, including the construction of a modern library, additional students’ hostels, road networks, a special research centre, and a solar power plant,” the vice-chancellor revealed.

Professor Yakasai maintained that this achievement was made possible through the invaluable support of His Excellency, Governor Malam Umar Namadi. being the university is owned by the state

He, however, revealed that over N194 million was paid to 6,279 students through President Tinubu’s educational initiative, NELFUND, which eased a lot of difficulties faced by less privileged students at the university.

The vice chancellor reiterated the university’s commitment to strengthening research and academic excellence in order to play its expected role in Jigawa State and Nigeria at large.
