A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former governorship candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) in the 2023 Kogi State governorship election, Olayinka Braimoh, has urged the new state executive of the party to uphold unity and integrity.
He said this in a statement congratulating the newly elected and inaugurated executives of the party in the state.
The ADC in Kogi State on Saturday conducted its state congress, which produced members of the State Working Committee, despite a directive from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) advising the party to maintain the status quo.
In a statement issued to journalists on Sunday, however, Braimoh described the emergence of the new executives as a reflection of the confidence and trust reposed in them by party members.
“At this critical time in our nation’s journey, the responsibility before you is both great and noble,” he stated. “I encourage you to lead with integrity, unity, and a clear commitment to the ideals of justice, equity, and people-centered governance that define our party.”
He expressed optimism that the new leadership would strengthen the party’s structure and reposition it as a credible alternative in Nigeria’s political landscape.
“May your tenure usher in renewed strength, cohesion, and purposeful direction for the ADC as we continue to build a credible alternative for our nation. I wish you wisdom, courage, and success in the task ahead,” he added.
It will be recalled that Tom Zakari Ogijo emerged as the Kogi State Chairman of the ADC by consensus, alongside other executives, during the congress held in Lokoja on Saturday.
