The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has charged the party’s support groups to take the lead in civic education and grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections to ensure re-election of President Bola Tinubu.

Yilwatda who spoke at a national symposium organised by the Integrity Group of Nigeria in Abuja on Monday,
described voter outreach as a core responsibility that cannot be left to chance.

Represented by Prof. Attah Pine, the APC chairman urged the groups to go beyond rallying existing loyalists and actively engage ordinary Nigerians by communicating the President Bola Tinubu-led administration strides and articulating its agenda for the next four years.

“Voter mobilisation is one of the functions of political parties and it is expected that the integrity group will be at the forefront of doing that, telling Nigerians what the president has done and what he is going to do in the next four years,” he said.

Yilwatda highlighted key reforms introduced by the administration, including the removal of fuel subsidy, foreign exchange market unification, tax and customs reforms, and what he described as renewed fiscal discipline, particularly in infrastructure development.

He cited major projects such as the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway and the Badagry-Sokoto road, alongside initiatives like the energy transition and CNG programme as some of the milestones recorded by the present administration.

Yilwatda said the government also recorded progress in the power sector through the Electricity Act, as well as in social investment programmes like NELFund, which provides student loans, and the approval of a N70,000 minimum wage.

“The policies of this government are so much that we can detain ourselves here if we want to read all the policies. Now, as a support group, especially the integrity group, what we look up to the integrity group is how to propagate these policies.

“How do we explain to Nigerians? How do we mobilise Nigerians around this projects that are so much? Within four sectors, I’ve called over eight projects and we are silent or deliberately, certain persons don’t want the country to understand that these policies are being floated by the government,” he added.

For his part, Director-General of the Integrity Group, Oke Idawane underscored the achievements of President Tinubu which still made him the only option in 2027 polls.
