The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested 41 suspected kidnappers and armed robbers, rescued seven kidnapped victims and recovered 24 firearms in a sustained operation across the State.
The Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, disclosed this on Monday during a press briefing on the command’s achievements for March and April 2026.
According to him, the command also recovered 200 rounds of live ammunition and 50 rustled cows within the period under review.
The CP said the successes were recorded through intelligence-led policing and coordinated operations under the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, Olutunji Rilwan Disu.
“The Kaduna State Police Command, within the months of March and April, 2026, in our sustained efforts to combat crime and ensure the safety and security of all residents of Kaduna State under the able leadership of our Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, PSC, NPM.
“Within the period under review, the Command has recorded significant successes, particularly in the fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes.
“Through intelligence-led policing, strategic operations, and the unwavering commitment of our officers and men, we have successfully arrested several criminal elements, dismantled kidnapping syndicates, and disrupted their networks across the State”.
He added that the operations led to the dismantling of several kidnapping and criminal syndicates across the State.
Muhammad said one of the major breakthroughs was the arrest of a suspected gunrunner in Kagarko Local Government Area, where 20 locally made Dane guns were recovered.
He added that two suspected kidnappers were arrested in Makarfi LGA, while several informants aiding bandits were apprehended in Kachia, Giwa and Kauru LGAs for allegedly supplying intelligence and logistics to criminal groups.
The commissioner further disclosed that two suspects linked to culpable homicide were arrested in Zaria following investigations into criminal activities in Giwa LGA.
He said operatives also intercepted 200 rounds of live ammunition concealed in a sack of guinea corn, leading to the arrest of two suspects, while efforts were ongoing to apprehend their fleeing accomplice.
In a related development, a suspected notorious drug dealer and gang member was arrested in Rigasa over alleged involvement in phone snatching and other crimes.
Muhammad said the command also arrested two suspected kidnappers in Kubau LGA and 13 suspects linked to armed robbery, shop breaking and thuggery in separate operations.
He added that two suspected cattle rustlers were arrested with 20 stolen cows recovered, while motorcycle snatchers and receivers of stolen property were also apprehended, with a motorcycle recovered.
The police commissioner said all suspects would be charged in court upon completion of investigations, noting that efforts were ongoing to track down other fleeing members of the criminal networks.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling crime and protecting lives and property, urging residents to continue providing credible information to security agencies.
Muhammad also commended the support of the Kaduna State Government under Uba Sani and the residents for their cooperation.
