Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, will remain in the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) following the adjournment of his bail application by the Kaduna State High Court.

El-Rufai was first taken into custody around February 19, 2026, after a court granted the anti-graft agency a remand order to detain him over allegations linked to his tenure as governor of Kaduna State. The remand was subsequently extended on March 5, 2026, as investigations continued.

At the previous sitting, counsel to the ICPC told the court that investigations were still ongoing and requested more time to conclude its findings, arguing that granting bail at this stage could interfere with the process.

However, El-Rufai’s legal team urged the court to grant him bail, maintaining that he had cooperated with investigators and posed no flight risk.

After hearing both sides, the court adjourned the matter to April 21, 2026, for continuation of proceedings.

The former governor will remain in ICPC custody pending the next hearing, as the case continues to attract national attention.
