Maikyau said he had been carrying out medical outreaches in his Kebbi State in partnership with health personnel who he described as doing well, especially his collaboration with the Medicare Foundation and others.

He said it had been a part of him to be a health provider.

The NBA boss said, “This is the beginning of a good relationship with the management of the hospital and we are happy to see improvements.

“I actually thought that I will come here quietly and do what we have to do but I quickly told myself that this is the public and I know that my colleagues will not be please with me because I didn’t intend to do this in my capacity but in the capacity of the NBA and I intend to understand that one cannot begin to separate himself and that of the office that he is occupying. I’m not a medical officer, but in my start up I almost venture into a medical career but maybe God has made this an opportunity for me to do this which I would have done as may be a medical doctor.

“We are doing this because we have to sacrifice our lives to protect the lives of others, so it is better to do what you can to save the lives of others. So, we believe that we help you to continue to do what you have to do because we have to continue to contribute in our own little way so that your own lives and will also continue to enjoy your own lives.

“So, this is one of the reasons we have come to support what you are doing and we also want to please our colleagues that are on the National Health Insurance to be given good attention. We have not received any complaint from here and it is a way of saying that let us encourage you to do more.”

In his appreciation, the medical director of Garki Hospital, Dr Adamu Onu expressed his appreciation to the NBA President. Saying, “We are very grateful for this gesture and to be very honest we are overwhelmed by the extent of what you have given to us. It may seem to you as a small thing but to be honest with you it is more than what you thought.”
