Amid speculations of assassination attempt on Senator Mohammed Sani Musa representing Niger East in the National Assembly, the state police command said four suspects were arrested as fake security operatives searching for foreign currencies and arms in the house.

Social media was agog yesterday with claims of an assassination attempt on the senator who was earlier in Minna but the police public relations officer Wasiu Abiodun said, “Niger State Police Command wishes to respond to an online publication which stated that there was an assassination attempt on a senator in Minna, which is untrue.

“The fact of the incident is that on December 3, 2022 at about 1900hrs, based on a distress call received that some suspicious persons, driving a Toyota Sienna vehicle with Reg. No. FKJ 814 GP invaded the house of a senator, located at Tudun-Wada, Minna,” he said.

Abiodun said the command immediately mobilised tactical teams to the scene and the following suspects – Oladele Peter Akano, 49, of Kuruduma, Abuja, Abdul Salisu, 31,  ‘Gwagwalada, Abuja and Felix Clarkson, 47, of Karo Abuja and Babagana Alhaji, 39, of Chideri-Polo, Maiduguri were arrested

He said “during interrogation, the suspects claimed that they were mobilised by one Sheriff, a purported whistleblower who reportedly claimed to be working with a security agency at Abuja but at present at large.
