The Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed claims by a group, the Arewa APC Forum, that it had withdrawn support for President Bola Tinubu’s second-term bid, describing the statement as false and misleading.
In a statement issued yesterday in Kano, the state publicity secretary, Auwalu Abdullahi, said the group was unknown to the party and did not represent its position or that of its members in Kano.
He said, “The APC in Kano is aware of attempts by certain individuals and faceless groups to create confusion and disunity within the party.
“We wish to state categorically that this so-called forum is not known to the party structure and does not represent the views of APC members in Kano State.”
Abdullahi stressed that no recognised organ of the party had taken any decision to withdraw support for the president, adding that the Kano APC remained fully committed to Tinubu and his administration.
He described the purported statement as a calculated attempt by mischief-makers to tarnish the image of the party and create unnecessary tension within its ranks.
The spokesman reaffirmed the chapter’s confidence in the leadership of President Tinubu, noting that his administration was focused on delivering good governance, economic reforms and national development.
He added that the party, under the leadership of the state chairman, Umar Haruna Doguwa, remained united and resolute in its support for the president’s vision.
Abdullahi urged party members and the general public to disregard the claim in its entirety, insisting that the alleged signatory to the statement was faceless and was not from stakeholders of the APC at any level in the state.
