The Kogi State AIDS Control Agency (KOSACA) has convened a one-day dissemination meeting to officially present its 2025–2027 Strategic plan for HIV/AIDS, outlining a comprehensive roadmap to curb new infections and improve access to treatment and care across the state.
The meeting, held yesterday, brought together key stakeholders from the health sector, development partners, civil society organisations, and implementing partners to review the document and align on priorities for the next three years.
Speaking at the event, the executive secretary of KOSACA, Dr. Ajodoh O. Monday, reiterated the agency’s resolve to drive a coordinated and impactful response that would significantly reduce the burden of HIV/AIDS in the state.
He said the strategic plan was designed to reduce new HIV infections, expand access to quality treatment and care and strengthen community systems for a more sustainable and coordinated response to HIV/AIDS in Kogi State.
The agency commended the presence of the permanent secretary of the state Ministry of Health who represented the coordinating commissioner for health, noting that it reflected the state government’s strong commitment to sustaining progress in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
KOSACA also acknowledged the contributions of the lead consultant, Dr. Mary Onoja, and the technical team for their expertise and dedication in developing the strategic document. The agency noted that their inclusive approach ensured the plan reflects current realities and aligns with national priorities.
Further appreciation was extended to the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) for its continued technical leadership, guidance, and support in strengthening the state’s HIV response framework.
The agency also thanked all stakeholders present at the meeting for their active participation and valuable contributions, which it said would enhance the implementation of the strategic plan and promote collective ownership of the HIV/AIDS response in the state.
KOSACA reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with partners to ensure effective implementation of the strategic plan and to achieve improved health outcomes for residents of Kogi State.
