Governor Namadi’s Purposeful Leadership Tightens APC Grip In Jigawa

The All Progressives Congress (APC) is tightening its grip in Jigawa State as opposition parties weaken by the day under the all-inclusive, purposeful leadership of His Excellency, Governor Malam Umar Namadi, who is transforming the lives of the people and building their confidence in the ruling party.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Jigawa State Governor, Comrade Muhammad Hamisu Gumel, stated this while denouncing a media report on mass defection from the APC. He described the report as a purported lie, misleading and aimed at creating public confusion.

Mr Hamisu noted that since the assumption of office, His Excellency Governor Malam Umar Namadi has introduced many policies and programmes under his 12‑point agenda, from which every household, community, and local government has so far enjoyed the dividends of democracy.

According to the Chief Press Secretary, the all‑inclusive governance and people‑oriented democratic system operated by Governor Namadi was clearly manifested in the Government and  Public Engagement program (“Gwamnati Da Jama’a”), under which the governor went round all 27 local government areas of the state, presented his scorecard, and also received the demands and complaints of the people for formulating a citizen’s budget and people‑oriented policies.

Mr Hamisu maintained that the laudable projects that have transformed the lives of Jigawa people over the last three years have made the APC increasingly popular in the state.

“Before and during the citizens’ engagement programme, thousands of people in groups and as individuals dumped their parties and joined the APC to ensure they took part in the positive transformation taking place in the state now.”

“I can say, and have all the evidence there on public record, that every day, people are defecting from the PDP, ADC, NNPP and other opposition parties to the APC in Jigawa State. These include serving state and national lawmakers, executive members, and other prominent political gladiators who now understand the good intention and determination of Governor Namadi to make Jigawa prosperous and great.”

Mr Hamisu also stated that those spreading false information about the APC in Jigawa State are largely political associates of the former state governor and former Minister of Defence, Alhaji Muhammad I Badaru Abubakar, and assured that they are bound to fail in their sinister agenda, which appears to be unpopular with the people of Jigawa and their collective interest.

The Chief Press Secretary also acknowledged that there are a few self-centred and aggrieved APC members who left the party because they were not given appointments or understood that their selfish interests could not be achieved with Governor Namadi as the party leader in the state.

“We are optimistic that, based on the evidence on the ground, the APC has a greater chance to overwhelmingly win the presidential, governorship, and all seats to be contested in the forthcoming 2027 general election.”

“Opposition parties and aggrieved members are now gasping politically in Jigawa; therefore, no wonder they resort to propaganda and spreading lies to draw public attention. But surely they are bound to be doomed in the Jigawa political arena,” Mr Hamisu declared.
