Defender Manuel Akanji has expressed a strong desire to remain at Inter Milan, citing his seamless adaptation and overall satisfaction with life in Serie A.
The Swiss international has enjoyed a productive campaign since arriving at the San Siro, establishing himself as a versatile figure capable of operating in both midfield and a back three. His performances have played a significant role in Inter’s domestic and European pursuits this season.
Speaking to the club’s official media channels, Akanji revealed that while discussions over his long-term future are expected, his immediate focus remains on finishing the season strongly.
“The team and the coach made it very easy for me to settle in,” he said. “I feel comfortable playing in different positions, and I believe I’ve had a very good season so far. The priority now is to finish strongly and help the team achieve its goals.”
The defender also disclosed that he had held talks with AC Milan in the summer of 2025 but ultimately chose Inter, believing it was the better fit for his playing style and career progression.
“I spoke with Milan, but Inter felt right for me,” he explained. “My agent handled the discussions, and in the end, this move has worked out very well.”
With Inter competing for silverware, Akanji hinted that contract discussions would likely take place once the season concludes. For now, his performances continue to underline his importance to the squad.
