Former President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle’s production company, Higher Ground, is becoming an independent operation after eight years on Netflix.

Barack Obama disclosed this at an event on Saturday in Philadelphia, attended by leaders in entertainment, media and sports as part of celebrations for the 250th anniversary of the United States.

Speaking on separate panels, the pair discussed their work with Higher Ground. Barack Obama remarked that, after eight years of working exclusively with Netflix and being “very grateful for the launch that happened,” they are transitioning to a more independent company where they can work with various studios.
