Wolves Relegated From Premier League After West Ham, Crystal Palace Draw

Wolverhampton Wanderers have officially been relegated from the Premier League.

Their fate was confirmed with West Ham United’s 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace on Monday. Rob Edwards’ side are on 17 points after 33 games.

Wolves started the season with Vítor Pereira in charge before the Portuguese manager was sacked in November last year and replaced by former Luton Town and Middlesbrough boss Rob Edwards.

Pereira is now at Nottingham Forest who are in their own relegation battle, but recent results have seen them inch toward safety.

It has been a miserable season in the Premier League for Wolves — who did not get their first win until January. Since then, they have won only two more games — albeit against European spot-chasing Aston Villa and Liverpool.

ESPN reports that The relegation ends the club’s eight-season stay in the English top flight and means that the West Midlands club will be back in the Championship for the first time since the 2017-18 season.

Wolves interim executive Nathan Shi said after the game that fans “deserve better” and promised they would “respond with clarity and conviction.”

In a statement after relegation was confirmed, Shi said: “Confirmation of our relegation is a difficult moment for everyone connected to Wolves.

“While this is a deeply disappointing outcome, work has been under way since my arrival in December to ensure we are ready to respond with clarity and conviction.

“We are clear on what needs to improve, and our focus is now on strengthening the club, building momentum and creating a team our supporters can believe in. We know what is required and will approach the months ahead with purpose.

“We know this season has tested your loyalty and patience. Your backing, home and away, has not been taken for granted.

“You deserve better and giving you a club you can genuinely be proud of is what drives everything we do from this point forward.”
