A civic group, the Citizens Alliance for Security and National Cohesion, has commended the Nigerian Armed Forces for what it described as sustained, coordinated operations leading to multiple rescues, arrests and the disruption of criminal and terrorist activities across the country.
In a statement issued on Thursday and signed by its national president, Ibrahim Danjuma, the group said recent operations across several theatres indicate improved operational effectiveness and increased pressure on criminal networks.
The group cited the rescue of 13 passengers abducted along the Makurdi–Otukpo road in Benue State, noting that troops successfully recovered the victims from a forest location following a coordinated search-and-rescue mission.
“This intervention underscores the military’s improved capacity to track and recover victims within a short timeframe, even in challenging terrain,” the statement said.
In Plateau State, CASNC said troops arrested suspected attackers linked to recent violence and recovered arms and ammunition, including a submachine gun and other locally fabricated weapons. It added that security forces also responded promptly to distress calls, evacuated injured civilians and prevented further escalation in affected communities.
The group further highlighted operations in the North-East, where troops repelled attempted attacks by insurgents along the Kirawa–Pulka axis and in the Benisheikh area of Borno State, forcing attackers to retreat under sustained engagement.
It also noted the detection and safe detonation of an improvised explosive device along a major route in Borno, describing it as a critical intervention that prevented potential casualties.
According to the group, the arrest of suspected logistics suppliers linked to insurgent groups in Yobe State represents a significant step in weakening terrorist supply chains.
“Disrupting logistics networks limits the ability of these groups to coordinate and sustain attacks,” Danjuma said.
In the North-West, the coalition referenced the repulsion of an attack in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State, where troops engaged armed assailants and forced them to retreat.
CASNC also pointed to operations in Kogi State, where troops dismantled a suspected criminal camp and intercepted a logistics courier, as well as in Edo State, where a kidnap attempt was foiled and suspects arrested.
