The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested 30 suspected kidnappers and recovered firearms, ammunition, stolen vehicles and illicit drugs in a series of coordinated operations carried out across the State in April 2026.

The Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, disclosed this on Monday while briefing journalists on the command’s monthly operational achievements.

He said the Command also arrested four suspected gunrunners, six members of a vehicle theft syndicate, and other individuals linked to violent crimes across the state.

According to him, items recovered include five firearms, among them an anti riot gun, alongside ammunition and several stolen vehicles.

The commissioner of police further disclosed that operatives rescued a seven year old boy abducted in Anchau, Kubau Local Government Area.

“The child was reportedly kidnapped while returning from school, with the abductors demanding N40 million ransom and threatening to kill him if payment was not made,” he stated.

Muhammad said operatives of the Anchau Division immediately launched a rescue operation, which led to the safe recovery of the victim in Maigana, Soba Local Government Area.

In another operation, he said police recovered an AK 47 rifle with ammunition along the Kaduna-Abuja expressway near the tollgate following a gun encounter with suspected bandits.

Similarly, the commissioner disclosed that at Kawo Flyover, operatives recovered a 37 38mm anti riot gun, two short range shells and one long range shell, allegedly abandoned by a fleeing suspect who ran into a cemetery upon sighting police officers.

In a separate arrest, a 45 year old suspect was apprehended in Kurmin Zaki in possession of a locally fabricated AK 47 rifle.

On vehicle related crimes, Muhammad confirmed the arrest of three suspected members of a syndicate involved in car theft across Kaduna, Kano and Katsina States.

He added that detectives also arrested another suspect found with a stolen Toyota Corolla and a Hyundai vehicle, while a further Toyota Corolla traced from Kaduna to Katsina State was recovered, with one suspect arrested in connection with the case.

Meanwhile, in Zaria, he said operatives arrested a suspect found with 44 wraps of suspected cannabis concealed in a sack during a surveillance operation.

Muhammad said the suspect is under investigation to determine possible links to a wider drug trafficking network operating within and outside the state.
