No fewer than six residents of Ukemberagya/Tswarev Council Ward, in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State, were killed by suspected herdsmen, and seven were critically injured.

Chairman Logo Local Government Area, Clement Kav, confirmed the attack,” They carried out the attack late on Saturday/Sunday night. I have briefed the Commissioner of Police and the Adviser, Homeland Security on the development,” Kyav said.

A source in the area who pleaded anonymity narrated that suspected herders in large numbers on motorcycles armed with firearms invaded the community and engaged in a killing spree.

“Today, 27/4/2026, at about 13:00 hours, suspected Fulani marauders attacked Channel One, a border settlement in Ukemberagya/Tswarev Council Ward, Logo LGA of Benue State, located along Arufu-Wukari road, Taraba State.

“I can confirm to you that we have identified and evacuated six people who were these armed killers. ”

The eyewitness said the victims were Akor Gwakyaa, Msooter Gwakyaa, Aondoungwa Michael, Vershima Michael, Terna Michael, and Msughter Terzungwe.

According to the eyewitness, those injured were taken to different hospitals in Anyiin town. In contrast, those in critical health condition were taken to Ugba, the headquarters of Logo LGA, for urgent medical attention.

Another resident of the area who did not want his name in print urged security operatives to intensify border-coordinated clearance operations to dislodge the suspected terrorists camped at Shaor and other deserted villages.

He called for joint inter-state security task forces with Benue, Nasarawa, and Taraba States to monitor cross-border movements of suspected armed herdsmen,” and block all routes used by attackers to attack border communities in Logo Local Government.”

Meanwhile, the Benue State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Udeme Edet, did not answer calls on her phone regarding the attack.
