Group Rates 5 Federal Agencies High On Service Delivery

A civic group, Oduduwa Development Initiative, has rated five federal agencies high on service delivery after what it described as an independent assessment of their operations.

The group, in a statement by its national president, Akinyele Olasumbo, said the Bureau of Public Procurement, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigeria Customs Service and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board showed measurable efficiency, transparency and innovation in the discharge of their mandates.

It said the assessment was conducted amid growing public criticism of government institutions over allegations of inefficiency, corruption and poor accountability.

According to the group, the Bureau of Public Procurement has made progress in strengthening procurement processes, citing reforms introduced under its current leadership aimed at improving transparency and the use of technology.

It also noted what it called improvements in border management and migration processes by the Nigeria Immigration Service, following recent efforts to modernise its operations.

On internal security, the group said the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has expanded its role in protecting critical infrastructure and supporting broader security efforts across the country.

Similarly, it credited the Nigeria Customs Service with reforms that have boosted revenue generation and improved engagement with stakeholders.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board was also commended for maintaining what the group described as consistent standards of integrity in the conduct of public examinations.

The initiative argued that recognising performing institutions is necessary to encourage accountability and motivate others within the public service.

It added that it would continue to engage government agencies and promote what it termed good governance practices.
