Barring last minute change of plan, Benue State governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, the secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), George Akume’s camps and other key stakeholders in the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will hold a make or mar reconciliation meeting tomorrow or Friday ahead of the party’s primaries and 2027 general elections.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the much-anticipated meeting would hold at Benue State Government House, Makurdi, with all APC stakeholders in attendance for the amicable resolution of their differences which had been on for almost three years.

It was further learnt that if both camps succeed in reconciling, one of the outcomes of the meeting would be sharing or ceding of positions that would accommodate all the interests to avoid direct primaries.

Confirming the scheduled meeting with our correspondent, an APC exco member loyal to the governor stated, “Yes, we officials of the APC Benue State chapter are aware of the stakeholders’ meeting.

“Our governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, George Akume and other party’s stakeholders will be in attendance” the APC official said.

Also, the spokesperson of the state APC loyal to Akume, Daniel Ihomun, confirmed the meeting, “Yes, there is going to be APC stakeholders meeting on Friday which was called by the SGF Akume and Governor Alia is also going to be in attendance. The venue of the meeting will be at Government House, Makurdi”.

Ihomun added, “ Details of the meeting is not available at the moment but you know the party has been firing for sometime, so SGF Akume has called for the meeting which will hold at the Government House. Yes, we are satisfied and as a party person anything that will bring about unity in the party is welcomed,” he said.

Meanwhile, some of the APC members who spoke with LEADERSHIP urged all leaders of the party to shift grounds for peaceful resolution of the crisis to avoid mass defection of aspirants to other political parties. “There must be compromises by our state APC leaders or if we fail to resolve this crisis in the forthcoming meeting many aspirants and their supporters who are at the disadvantage in the APC will decamp to other political parties to actualise their 2027 political ambitions. There is no time on the side of aspirants,” they warned.
