APC Primaries: No Plans To Extend Sale Of Forms – Yilwatda

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has said there are currently no plans to extend the sale of the party’s Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for aspirants seeking tickets to contest the 2027 general elections.

Yilwatda stated this while briefing journalists during his visit to the Abuja Continental Hotel, formerly Sheraton, where the forms are being sold.

The APC had fixed April 25 to May 2, 2026, for the sale of the forms, but the exercise formally commenced on Tuesday, about three days later.

However, the party’s national chairman said the APC is working in line with its timetable of activities and that any decision on an extension would be taken by the National Working Committee (NWC).

“There is a timeline for activities. If we are to consider any extension, we will follow due process. We will reconvene the National Working Committee, and it will decide whether there will be an extension or not. For now, there is no extension,” he said.

Yilwatda commended the smooth process of selling forms to aspirants, describing it as an indication of a seamless primary election and potential victory in next year’s general elections.

According to him, the APC remains one of the most democratic political parties in the country, providing a level playing field for all its members to pursue their ambitions without hindrance.

“As we know, our party is one of the most democratic political parties in Nigeria. As you can see, people are streaming in to buy forms freely, with no restrictions. Someone has even picked a form to contest for president; it shows the level of democracy we have in Nigeria.

“Sitting governors are being challenged, the sitting president is being challenged, and senators are also being challenged. The number of people coming to contest in our party shows that it is the most acceptable political party in Nigeria.

“We have no challenges in selling forms. The banks have been doing the needful, our staff are handling clearances, and people are being issued their forms. The department responsible for receipts has been issuing them, and there have been no complaints at our help desk.

“We have also been monitoring social media to see if there are any complaints, but we have not observed any. When it comes to service delivery, the APC is among the best in providing quality services to its members.

“So, we are confident that just as the process has been smooth so far, we will also have a smooth nomination process, which will help us win the election,” Yilwatda added.
