Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has declared its readiness to offer Nigerians a viable alternative to other political parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.

National Chairman of the party, Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Thursday.

Baba-Ahmed cited the party’s long-standing history, integrity and growing national support base.

He described PRP as “a symbol of hope” capable of regenerating and re-engineering the country for future generations.

He also stated that the party’s pedigree and the calibre of aspirants emerging on its platform had set it apart from other political parties.

“We have integrity, we have history and we have some of the best Nigerians coming forward to contest on our platform.

“We represent an unblemished platform and a real opportunity to reposition Nigeria,” he said.

On membership drive, the national chairman noted a surge in interest from Nigerians, including defectors from other political parties.

According to him, PRP is witnessing unprecedented growth, with thousands registering as members, aspirants and delegates.

He said: “Our membership drive has never been more robust. We are seeing a significant influx of people who believe in our vision.

“This level of interest is remarkable, especially for a party that has existed for over 70 years,” he stated.

Addressing the possibility of the party engaging in coalition arrangement with other political parties, Baba-Ahmed acknowledged that collaboration among political parties could become necessary ahead of the elections.

He, however, said that such alliances must be legally grounded and in the best interest of the country.

“Coalition is a loose term, but we foresee a future where parties not burdened by legal issues may come together in one form or another.

“What is most important is ensuring that Nigeria gets a new leader in 2027,” he said.

On concerns about the role of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Baba-Ahmed said while he had not observed direct bias, he was aware of grievances raised by some political parties and called for fairness and transparency.

“We have not seen clear evidence of bias, but there are concerns. It is important that INEC operates above partisan interests.

“The credibility of the 2027 elections will shape the future of Nigeria,” he said.

The PRP national chairman disclosed that the party’s presidential nomination and expression of interest forms had pegged at N20 million.

He said that the governorship form had been pegged at N8.5 million, Senate, N1.85 million; House of Representatives, N700,000 and State House of Assembly, ₦120,000.

While reaffirming the party’s commitment to democratic principles, Baba-Ahmed expressed optimism that Nigerians would embrace its vision for a better future.(NAN)
